Tracey Breazeale is a former business executive with decades of experience in finance and business strategy, including years at Boston Consulting Group and Sleep Number. She left the private sector to raise her four kids and has lived in the Lake Minnetonka area for over 25 years. She served two terms on the Minnetonka Beach City Council, where she helped lead the effort to build a new water treatment facility that eliminated PFAS from the city’s drinking water. Tracey also has significant nonprofit leadership experience, including serving on the board of Jeremiah Project and the Development Committee of the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery.

Tracey believes Minnesota needs leaders who will stand up for what’s right, even when it’s hard. With the need for gun violence prevention, the Boundary Waters under threat, unconstitutional attacks from the federal government, and fraud taking resources from the state’s most vulnerable residents, Tracey says Minnesotans can’t afford political games or complacency. She’s running to be a strong, independent voice in St. Paul who represents the people of District 45A — not special interests, not the party line. Tracey wants to make sure Minnesota remains a place that the next generation wants to call home too — with great career and entrepreneurial opportunities, affordable homes, good schools, and safe communities.

Tracey started her career in investment banking after earning her degree in Psychology and Economics from Brown University. She later earned her MBA from Harvard Business School and worked in business strategy for clients across retail, financial services, and medical technology during her time with Boston Consulting Group and Sleep Number. Tracey is also a nonprofit leader, serving on the board of the Jeremiah Project, the Development Committee of the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, and previously on the board of Milkweed Editions. She also currently owns a small business with her husband.

Tracey’s top priorities include:

Tracey won’t tolerate any amount of fraud or waste in government, and will use her decades of business and finance experience to stop fraud, optimize operations, protect your tax dollars, and ensure public funding benefits those it’s intended to help. To address fraud in state government, Tracey supports a top-to-bottom audit of state agencies, better training and modern technology to better detect fraud, expanding state agencies’ authority to prevent fraud and recover stolen funds, and ensuring the justice system has the resources to investigate and prosecute every case. Tracey believes that fiscal responsibility is about more than just stopping fraud, and that the government should regularly review programs to ensure they are both efficient and effective; Tracey will improve transparency of and accountability for how tax dollars are spent

Where does Tracey Breazeale stand on clean water and the environment?

Clean water is personal to Tracey; she grew up in the Lake Minnetonka area and has a strong record of supporting clean water in Minnesota. While on council, she helped lead the work for a PFAS-eliminating water treatment facility in Minnetonka Beach. As a legislator, Tracey will work to reduce industrial pollution, address invasive aquatic species, and ensure every community has clean drinking water. Tracey also wants to protect the Boundary Waters and supports the Prove It First bill, to keep toxic copper-sulfide mining out of Minnesota. As for clean air, Tracey supports expanding our clean energy economy to reduce air pollution and lower energy bills for Minnesotans, as well as investing in Minnesota companies that are innovating new clean energy technologies. Tracey strongly supports common-sense gun safety legislation, including safe storage requirements, limiting magazine capacity, banning assault weapons, outlawing ghost guns, and strengthening extreme risk protection orders (ERPO) as supported by law enforcement. She also knows that reducing gun violence requires better access to mental health care and economic stability. Tracey will address gun violence holistically—not just the parts that are politically convenient. Tracey is the only Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate in the race.

Tracey has said she’s deeply troubled by the excessive and often violent actions ICE has taken in the state; the inaction and silence on Operation Metro Surge from our current representative is one reason she decided to run. Tracey believes that federal law enforcement should have to follow the same rules as our local law enforcement; she supports banning federal agents from schools, daycares, hospitals, and places of worship unless they have a valid judicial warrant, prohibiting agents from concealing their identities with masks, working with state agencies to hold federal law enforcement accountable for misconduct, and allowing citizens to sue when their constitutional rights are violated.

FACT: Rep. Andrew Myers voted AGAINST keeping ICE agents out of schools without a judicial warrant (HJP 5215, 3/26/26) and AGAINST prohibiting federal agents from wearing masks (HJP 4746, 3/2/26).

Does Tracey Breazeale support the police and other first responders?

Tracey has a strong record of supporting first responders as evident by her work on city council where she fully funded the police department and supported the Long Lake firefighters. Tracey supports giving police the tools and training they need to fight crime, expanding mental health resources for first responders, and building safe staffing levels through better recruitment and retention. Tracey has personal insight into law enforcement through her cousin who worked as a police officer.
