Minnesota Roots
I was born in Minnesota and spent my early years in St Louis Park and Excelsior. My dad was a lifelong Cargill employee and through him I learned the important role Minnesota businesses play not only in our state but across the world. Both of my parents spent countless hours volunteering in our community, showing my brother and I the importance of service. My husband, Jeff, and I have worked to instill this same sense of civic responsibility in our four children. We are proud of the work they have done to improve our neighborhood parks, reduce food insecurity, and mentor underserved youth.
Though I spent my early years in Minnesota, I have also lived abroad and in many other states. My husband and I chose to start our family in Minnesota because of the many accessible and beautiful lakes, world-class education, thriving business community, and safe communities. We’ve enjoyed living in the Lake Minnetonka area for over 25 years. I want to ensure Minnesota remains a place that people of all ages want to call home and businesses want to invest in.
Education and Career
I’m a former business executive with decades of experience managing diverse teams in client service. After earning my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Economics from Brown University, I started my career in investment banking. I later earned my Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, and went on to work for both global and local companies, including Boston Consulting Group and Sleep Number. As an executive, I developed finance and business strategies for a wide range of clients, including retail and consumer product companies, financial services, and medical technology. I eventually left the private sector to focus on raising my four kids.
Civic Leader
I served two terms on Minnetonka Beach City Council, where I used my experience in finance and business to help our city provide quality public service. As a council member, I served as a liaison to the Parks Commission, Dock Committee, as well as our local Civic Committee, which is dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment in our city. I have also served on the board of local nonprofit organizations.
I’m particularly proud of the work we did to build a new water treatment facility with PFAS elimination to provide clean drinking water to Minnetonka Beach. This project was a challenge due to lack of funding from the state, and highlighted the importance of having an effective state representative who will prioritize constructive action over party politics.
Through my public service, I have found that the best ideas often come from those closest to the issues and that listening to constituents is a critical part of making data-driven decisions. It can be difficult to represent diverse perspectives, but public officials should always be honest about their actions. As your representative, I promise to lead with integrity and treat everyone with respect – even if we disagree.
