Voting in Minnesota

To vote in Minnesota, you must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old on Election Day, and a resident of Minnesota for at least 20 days. 17 year olds who will be 18 years by Election Day can pre-register to vote.

Check or update your registration online at mnvotes.gov/register.

Vote by Mail

Whether you’ll be away from home on Election Day or just prefer to complete your ballot at home, you can request an absentee ballot via the Secretary of State (SOD) website today.

Ballots need to be received by Election Day, so the SOS recommends mailing your ballot back by October 4th. Track the status of your absentee ballot at mnvotes.gov/trackmyballot.
